CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 The Background of the Study
In order to accomplish its goals, any organisation must ensure that its working conditions are favourable. The secretary’s motivation comes from both internal and external sources.
Internal factors include things like the secretary’s sense of accomplishment and recognition, the nature of the work itself, opportunities for responsibility and advancement, and the chance for personal growth. External factors, on the other hand, include things like the secretary’s interpersonal relationships with coworkers and subordinates.
Given this context, the researchers aim to conduct this research with the goal of encouraging employers to enhance their working conditions in order to maximise employee performance.
Management is aware that employees have basic needs that must be met in order for them to perform at their best, and workers seek out organisations, firms, companies, and institutions that can meet these demands.
A secretarial service is essential in every professional setting, including but not limited to: advertising, public education, law, medicine, manufacturing, publishing, schools, insurance, banks, and the offices of politicians, authors, and judges.
The secretary’s role as an organization’s backbone is undeniable, and the secretary’s management is responsible for many of the accomplishments of the workforce. The English word “secretary” comes from the Latin word “secretaries,” which means “someone who knows something but keeps it hidden from others.”
So, essentially, a secretary is someone who keeps secrets. A secretary is someone who works in an office, answering phones and mail, typing, maintaining records, and scheduling meetings with clients. If the working conditions are bad, the secretary will not be able to do a good job.
1.2.1 Statement Of The Problem
Because employees are the primary source of an organization’s productivity, this study examines how various work environments affect productivity. When employees aren’t happy with their working conditions, both internally and externally, productivity drops significantly.
Researchers set out to investigate this phenomenon because they have seen firsthand how many companies still fail to see the value of providing their workers with decent working conditions, and how this has a direct impact on their morale and productivity.
1.3 Objectives of the Study
Finding out how different working conditions affect secretaries’ productivity is one of the overarching goals of this research. The particular goals, nevertheless, are to

Based on their size and popularity, four organisations within Kaduna city will be chosen to conduct the study:
Anglophone Nigerian Telecommunications
• The National Board for Technical Education
This is the Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company.
In Kaduna, Nigeria, there is the Federal Radio Corporation.
