ABSTRACT
Merger and acquisition have been widely acclaimed by business scholars and professionals as the most desirable and effective strategy for reviving Nigeria’s economic climate. The situation is so bad that organizations have had to turn around and devise a strategy to stay afloat in this turbulent sea.
The purpose of this research is to examine, analyze, and evaluate the effectiveness of mergers and acquisitions as a strategy for organizational survival in Nigeria, as well as to determine whether it can result in economies of scale and increased profitability of the combined firms.
To that end, questionnaires were distributed to Oando Nigeria Plc and a few other merged organizations. The collected data and information were analyzed using simple tables, frequencies, and percentages. The findings of this study show that mergers and acquisitions improve the productivity of newly formed organizations.
The researcher believes that, based on the findings, the recommendations made will improve merger and acquisition activities for the benefit of the government, proposing organizations, and the general public at large.
