INTRODUCTION TO CHAPTER ONE OF THE ROLE OF BUDGETING IN TERTIARY INSTITUTION MANAGEMENT

Budgeting has been one of the approaches used in the process of meeting the increasing complexities of the business society in recent years.

Budgeting has achieved widespread acceptance and is widely used.

According to the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary, a budget is an estimate or plan of the money available to someone and how it will be spent over a period of time.

To increase the standard of education in the state, the government committed a large sum of money on rehabilitating and equipping tertiary institutions.

Education remains a top priority for the state government, with the goal of alleviating the agony of sitting on the floor or standing up during lectures by providing the necessary items to make students comfortable during lectures, as well as other requirements such as the provision of a banking and finance department for both ND II and HND I students.

At this point, the aforementioned arguments highlight the importance of this research into the role of budgeting in tertiary institutions.

1.1 INTRODUCTION

The Enugu Institute of Management and Technology was founded in 1967 in Enugu and offers courses in Engineering and Laboratory Technology up to the ordinary diploma level. But when I arrived at school one morning, I saw a student of banking and finance and a student of electrical electronics fighting,

as well as HND I banking and finance and ND I banking and finance students quarrelling over a department. I asked why banking and finance students were fighting with electrical electronics students, and why ND I banking and finance students were quarrelling with HND I, and the answer I received was that banking and finance does not have a department. I now ask again,

WHY are NDI AND HNDI banking and finance quarrelling over each other? The response I get is that NDI students share the class room with HNDI, thus while HND I is receiving their lectures,

NDI students will be making noise. They may even enter the class when their turn to enter has not arrived, which has caused a major difficulty for one of them because of the shameg class room issue.
