ABSTRACT
This study aimed to assess the effect of competent construction production management on the successful delivery of building projects in Akwa, Anambra State. The research was guided by the formulation of three research questions. The population of the study consists of construction industry professionals with expertise in building production management. A well-structured questionnaire was issued, and thirty of the forty questionnaires returned for data collection. To answer the research questions, frequency count / percentages and weighted mean (likert scale) were utilized. It was determined, among other things, that the impact of excellent building production management leads to the successful delivery of building projects. Building production management; for quality assurance, labor utilization, and complete success in construction project supervision, it must be used at all times. Recommendations were given regarding the significance of successful building production management based on the study’s findings.

The Nigerian construction sector has grown at a tremendous rate. Construction techniques have evolved, with current trends favoring industrialization, mechanization, prefabrication, and the automation of all operations involved in the erection and installation of structures. With the population explosion and continued demand for new buildings of all types coupled with the infrastructural facilities, there is a need for professional practitioners in the building industry to impart knowledge of production management toward construction planning at the design stage in order to successfully deliver a building using the appropriate construction tools. The concept and content of contemporary construction work are evolving in a complex manner, indicating an obvious need for experts to improve their modern learning and practice skills. Only in this way can the construction industry effectively and efficiently handle the problems and duties forced upon it, thereby ensuring the quality of construction industry production. This will not only provide better value to the client, but it will also increase the stability of the industry’s profitability. For any construction project to be executed successfully on-site, the constructors must forecast, plan, and implement numerous production management documents (builder’s documents).

1.2 DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEMS
According to Bamisile (2004), the general public believes that the majority of building products do not provide value for money, and that construction projects cost too much, take too long to complete, and are prone to failure.
Ibironke T.O. (2009) said that problems encountered in the course of managing the three factors manifest predominantly at two points in the whole building process, namely the interface between the customer and the designer and the interface between the designer and the builder.
