THE ROLE OF TEACHERS IN EDUCATION IN THE EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF THE STATE OF EDO
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF STUDY
Teaching and learning are the two sides of a single coin. The purpose of learning is to bring about a change in behavior, whereas the purpose of teaching is to instill in the learner characteristics such as attitude, value, and adherence to prescribed procedures, rules, and principles that are expected to bring about the desired change in behavior.
Understanding the world teaching is crucial for appreciating the practitioner’s role in the student’s upbringing. There may be a single, all-encompassing definition of the word teaching, but attempts have been made to define and explain it, especially since teaching has a meaning, function, and degree structure or level (Imogie, 1999).
Teaching can be defined in terms of socialization as the interpersonal influence aimed at modifying the behavior of an individual. This definition makes education everyone’s business in society, given that the socialization of citizens can be influenced not only by schools, but also by religious institutions, the media, and the family.
Since one of the primary goals of education is to produce good and useful members of society, teaching is the content of such interactive human relationships designed to promote behavior change. The significance of teachers and education cannot be overstated.
The significance of teaching stems from the fact that it is the process through which various educational programs are implemented in the classroom. Today, through teaching, the teacher determines what kind of people or, to be more precise, what kind of individuals we will become.
Teaching as a process will result in a nation’s social, economic, and political development; the achievement of desired goals is contingent on the effectiveness and determination of teachers. At this time, it is crucial to identify who is a teacher.
In all societies of the world, it is a known fact that education begins in the home or rather at home. Children learn to speak and perform tasks by imitating their parents, relatives, peers, etc. In the past, this process of socialization was carried out by a number of individuals who lacked formal education.
As a society became more complex, interdependent, and specialized, formal education or training became necessary. Children are introduced to formal education under the care and supervision of a specialized staff whose training and responsibilities are to instill in the young child value norms, rules, and all societal standards. Is the instructor.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
To comprehend the significance of teaching in the development of individuals, it is necessary to analyze the role of the educator. This study will therefore investigate the role of teachers in the education of students. In this study, all of the factors responsible for teachers’ continued commitment to teaching will be investigated.
Consequently, the following research questions will be addressed in this study: what are the roles of teachers in student development?
What possible roles does the government play in the teacher education system?
How much have private schools impacted the teaching and learning process in teacher education?
What contributions do both private and public schools actually make to the teaching and learning process?
PURPOSE OF STUDY
The study investigates the role of both government and private schools in teacher education schemes and the contribution of private schools to the teaching and learning process in order to determine the role of teachers in student development.

The mass media- radio, television, and newspapers- report that confrontation, demonstration, destruction of private and public property, and lack of good manners and character are the result of poor parenting and other guidance.

To be familiar with the students with learning disabilities and challenges.
To be able to present high-quality students to society who will represent the school and society in the future.
RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
Alternative and null hypotheses for this research are stated as (H1 and H2), respectively.
1
H1 Teachers contribute to the development of their students.
H2 Teachers do not contribute to the development of their students.
2
H1 There is a significant relationship between the teacher’s role and the children’s confidence instilled through disciplinary action.

H2 The teacher’s role in resolving students’ emotional issues is of no significance.
SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
The findings of this study will demonstrate whether or not the role of teachers in the education of students is inadequate.
The implications for classroom practice, curriculum planning, and student achievement would be positive. The study will also reveal how students perceive teachers and how teachers wish to be perceived.
Moreover, the study will enable us to determine what to add to the education or training process to improve the internal adjustment of the teacher-student relationship and ensure long-term learning success.
SCOPE OF STUDY
Due to time and budgetary constraints, the research is limited to junior secondary school students and teachers from select secondary schools in the Egor local government area. These are the schools;
