ABSTRACT

Toxicity caused by the breakdown of a pesticide’s active ingredient poses a significant threat to the health of the environment as well as living beings within ecological spaces. The situation is exacerbated by farmers’ overuse or improper application of pesticides, which are primarily used to control animal pests.

As a result, regulatory bodies such as the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) must not only make recommendations on the types of pesticides that are safe to use, but also regularly monitor farmers’ pesticide-use activities.

However, the purpose of this study is to review recent research articles in order to determine the extent to which pesticide toxicity affects water quality, biodiversity, and human health in the United States. Furthermore, we will investigate these articles in order to assess pesticide users’ adherence to the regulatory body’s application standard (EPA). Based on the findings of this review, recommendations will be made.

They will reflect the need to ensure that farmers, retailers, and other users are adequately educated on pesticide handling and application in order to reduce the toxicity of metabolites in the environment.

Furthermore, it will be beneficial if the methods and practices involved in the manufacture, transportation, application, and disposal of pesticides are adequately covered within the scope of applicable legislation.
