UNITED STATES-ISRAELI RELATIONS AND SECURITY IN THE MIDDLE EAST, 2008-2015
ABSTRACT
The historical links between the United States and Israel are an important factor in defining US Middle East policy. The Middle East policy goal of successive American leaders has been to preserve the state of Israel and assist it in maintaining a military and economic superiority over its neighbours.
However, the relationship between the current American administration and her Israeli counterpart has been strained due to disagreements over the appropriate strategy to employ in fighting Israel’s regional difficulties.
As a result, between 2008 and 2015, this study investigated American-Israeli ties as they affect overall security in the Middle East in the context of the following questions: (1). Is the tense relationship between the US and Israeli governments to blame for the Middle East’s insecurity?
(2). Is the Obama administration’s Middle East strategy jeopardising Israel’s security? The majority of the information for this study came from secondary sources. The qualitative/descriptive data analysis method was applied.
According to the report, the multitude of crises that gripped the Middle East from 2008 to 2015 may be ascribed to the strained relationship between the US and Israel.
The report advised that parliaments in both countries work together to settle disagreements between the two countries in the best interests of Israel in particular and the Middle East in general.
