WATER SUPPLY PLANNING

ABSTRACT

Water is one of the most essential natural resources for all life on Earth. The availability and quality of water have always played a significant role in determining not just where people can live, but also their standard of living.

Even while there has always been plenty of fresh water on the planet, it is not always available when and where it is needed, nor is it always of sufficient quality for all purposes.

Water must be viewed as a finite resource with limitations on its availability and suitability for usage.Inadequate water supply in Gombe’s Arawa district has been linked to increased population and a lack of accessibility.

As the area’s population grows, so does competition for water, which surpasses the area’s water supply, making water supply inadequate. In addition, the inability to extract water from sources due to non-distribution of public water supply systems, as well as a lack of maintenance of water infrastructure in the study region, have contributed to the water supply shortage.

The survey was conducted due to shortcomings in the provision of public water supplies in the Arawa neighbourhood. So far, the research has been able to determine the nature and difficulties with water supply in the study area.

The field survey and analysis show that the problem with water supply in the area ranges from the absence of public pipe-borne water, which has been linked to the state water corporation board’s neglect of the area, poor facility maintenance due to a lack of funds, and the area’s rapid population growth.
