YOUTH EMPLOYMENT, EMPOWERMENT AND POVERTY ALLEVIATION
ABSTRACT
The focus of this research is on youth employment, empowerment, and poverty alleviation in Ogun State.
The study critically examines the study’s background, problem statement, significance of the study, scope and delimitation of the study, and definition of words.
Both primary and secondary data sources were used in the course of these research projects.
The study discovered that youth empowerment programmes and policies are the most effective in eradicating young unemployment and poverty in Ogun State and throughout the country.
However, based on the findings, the study suggests that a vocational skills training centre be established for unemployed school leavers and postsecondary institution graduates, as well as counselling and extension services to youth on “start your own business.” In addition, qualified professionals should be permitted to anchor youth empowerment programmes.
CHAPITRE ONE
HISTORY OF THE STUDY
One of the primary issues confronting third-world countries is the rising poverty rate, which has resulted in a slew of social vices that are threatening our environment today.
However, what is truly to blame for the increase is the rising unemployment rate, which means that many capable young people who are willing and capable of working cannot find jobs.
Furthermore, some young people believed that the only route to advance their formal education to the university/polytechnic level. Not minding the excessive costs they had to pay, as well as the rigorous tasks they had to complete in the hopes of landing a good career once they graduated from their respective higher education schools. But, alas, the story is different; they wind up working 24 hours a day on the street for jobs that are questionable.
However, the rate at which poverty levels rise, as demonstrated by experts, calls for policies designed by the federal, state, and local governments to rectify the situation. Meanwhile, the current administration of Ogun State, led by Otunba Gbenga Daniel, is not falling behind in the process.
The current administration believes that the only way to improve the lives of our people, particularly our youngsters, is to empower them and encourage them to be creative rather than relying on white collar jobs that are not guaranteed.
To that aim, how far has the policy gone in reducing poverty in Ogun State since its inception? This is the goal of our research. We intend to use our findings to examine “Youth Employment, Empowerment, and Poverty Alleviation/Eradication in Ogun State.”

1.6 SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
The research would be designed to include youth employment, empowerment, and poverty alleviation in Ogun State, using the Ogun State job generation plan as a case study.
In general, all domains of human activity are characterised by certain limitation elements, and so a research work of this nature is not accepted. As a result, the study does not plan to dig into the detail of poverty reduction in Ogun State due to the following limited considerations.
Time: One of the limitations for the extent of the study, as well as our impending examination, is the scarcity or minimal amount of available time for doing the study.
Cost: – The amount to be spent on this project is rather substantial, and we are limiting our writing to this level due to a lack of sufficient funds.
1.7 DEFINITION OF TERMS
These are the terms that we would use while writing our project or research paper, and they include:
POVERTY: According to Asolo Adewale Adeleye, poverty is defined as the circumstance in which an individual’s income is insufficient to achieve a decent degree of welfare. It is a state or level in which the poor lack fundamental life essentials and resources to maintain their standard of living.
ALLEVIATION: These are the numerous measures put in place to eliminate an individual’s or society’s poverty level. The Ogun State government’s alleviation strategies include (OGEGEP) activities that will assure job creation, food for citizens, and the growth of agro-based enterprises.
YOUTH: A person aged 15 to 30 who is strong enough to function effectively and efficiently with the use of physical and mental abilities obtained through schooling.
EMPLOYMENT: According to the Oxford Advance Learner Dictionary of Current English, empowerment is developing and instilling in our kids a sense of belonging that will enable them to occupy leadership positions with the goal of effectively contributing to national development when the time arises.
