Abstract
A case study of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa was conducted as part of this project titled “A Assessment of Problems and Prospects of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its Effects on Secretaries” in order to assess the impact of ICT on the Secretary’s work. The research questions that were utilised were: what are the issues linked to ICT? How does the use of ICT impact the Secretary’s efficiency and effectiveness? We combed over the relevant literature. The research was conducted utilising structured questionnaires as the instrument. The data collected was analysed using a mean-based method based on the four-point Likert scale. The findings indicate that secretaries encounter several challenges when carrying out their duties. One of these is the threat of viruses. Another issue is the risk of information loss due to hackers or imposters. Other problems related to information and communication technology include unprotected downloaded files and the actions of unauthorised users. Organisations should install antivirus software on computer systems to detect, identify, and destroy infections. This will ensure proper information security. Moreover, it can aid in the prevention of injury by facilitating the interception of viruses. In addition, groups or people concerned with data security should put measures in place to monitor employees and contractors for signs of fraud or illegal activity.
