Abstract: Design and Development of a Personal Information System.
Personnel information system (PIS) is an application that combines many human resources functions, such as employee records, payroll system, recruitment and training, performance appraisal, and retirement administration system review, into a single package to enable the organisation to perform at its peak and in a highly fulfilling environment.
In this study, a critical analysis of personnel information management functions at the National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) in Lagos was conducted.
The historical context, problems, limitations of the existing system, and prospects for designing a new system with the goals of making it a web-based personnel information system to enhance human resource functions in order to provide a better platform to eliminate fraud
corruption, file hiding and misplacement, records falsification, duplication, fragmentation, inconsistencies, and other vices associated with manual methods of handling personnel records.
The new system was developed with PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) and MySQL. This language was chosen due of its simple syntax and capabilities for creating web-based applications.
