ABSTRACT
The primary goal of this research is to look into programming to attract students to the academic library (art exhibitions, book swaps, comfortable furniture, expresso bars, hosting campus meetings and conferences, lectures, poetry readings).
To accomplish this, six research objectives were developed: identify programming to attract students to academic libraries in Nasarawa State; identify resources available for reference and information services in these libraries; identify methods used for reference and information services delivery in academic libraries in Nasarawa State; ascertain the effectiveness of reference and information services in academic libraries in Nasarawa State; and determine hindra
The survey research design was used in the study. The study’s sample population was made up of 272 users and 7 total staff members. The instruments used to collect data were two sets of 61-item questionnaires and an observation checklist, which were presented in tables and analyzed using frequencies, percentages, and the mean.
The findings revealed that the major reference services provided were current Awareness, Selective Dissemination of Information, Indexing, and Abstracting, with 3.16, 3.09, 2.82, and 2.70, respectively. With 2.15 and 38.4, no online catalogue or ICT facilities were available for reference and information services.
