ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to look into the perceptions of instructors and students on sexuality education in some selected secondary schools in Edo State’s Ikpoba Okha Local Government.
To accomplish this, four (4) research questions were posed, and twenty (20) test items were developed, with a self-structured questionnaire serving as the instrument for eliciting responses from respondents.
A total of thirty (30) students and thirty (30) teachers were picked at random from three (3) different schools in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area. The split half dependability was employed to determine the instrument’s reliability, yielding a coefficient of 0.82. The data was analysed using a basic percentage-based descriptive approach.
The study’s findings revealed that participants have a positive attitude towards the teaching of sexuality education, and that it should be taught to both male and female students, regardless of age or level.
Based on the findings, recommendations were made that sexuality education be fully integrated into the school curriculum and made mandatory. Additionally, sex education teachers should teach comprehensive sex education without prejudice to any component of the topic.
